Oh my I’m cutting it close!! I got home, walked the dog and tried to whip up a card quickly. I’m not ecstatic about my card.. Looked way better in my head when I was thinking about it but there’s no time to make any changes now! So to visit the color inspiration, go to Kristina’s Blog. There are some AMAZING cards on there. Upsy Daisy and Happiness Always Cards

I made these two cards before Kristina’s color challenge but just haven’t had the time to post them yet.

: Happiness Always Card

This main card is Blue Bayou from last year’s in color and the flowers are stamped with regal rose and rose red with so saffron for the center of flowers. The strip of green is old olive stamped with the scandinavian wheel from the holiday mini and embossed with clear powder. I absolutely love love love that mini wheel. The ribbon is also retired and is last year’s soft sky double stitched ribbon.

I’m trying really hard to use up old retired colors.

Now for the second card:

Upsy Daisy Card

This card was inspired by my upline Carolyn. She made this card at her open house with the Big Shot premier. I don’t remember if she used tango tangerine or only orange but again, I was trying to use up old retired stock so the main card is wild wasabi. I inked up the main image with orchid opulence. Then went through and used a green (I don’t remember which one anymore) marker for the flower stems. I took a sponge dauber for the edges of the top note and used the 2-way glue pen to add some dazzling diamond glitter. The back piece is designer paper from last year’s level 1 hostess pack. Finished it off with some white taffeta ribbon.

Brought some cards in to work and a coworker bought 7 cards! I’ve only been selling them for $3 a card though. Enjoy!

Color Inspiration #33

I’ve been following Kristina Werner’s Blog for some time now and have FINALLY been able to take part in a color challenge. I really thought I’d have a hard time putting these colors together. I had some left over chocolate chip cardstock strips which I had embossed with clear with the new scandinavian roller for Christmas cards. Pulled from an old design I used to make thank you cards and tested out water color paper with my aqua painter for the first time and I absolutely LOVE it. Here’s what I came up with.

I would’ve totally loved to take a brighter photo but it’s 12:20 in the morning and I’ve got to shower still and get ready for bed for yet another day of work tomorrow and we all know if I procrastinate, I’ll never get this entry in! So please excuse the darkish photo and I know the “thinking of you” looks pinkish but it’s actually stamped in pumpkin pie and yes… I did stamp it crooked and I’m still kicking myself for it. G’nite!

11 Christmas Card Packs DONE!!!

OMG I cannot believe that I have FINALLY finished all the Christmas card packs that people ordered. So lets recap. A total of 10 people wanted a pack. I made 11 just to have one extra and Jamie’s dad came over and ended up wanting a pack as well. So that’s 11 packs, 12 including my sample cards. So that’s 144 Christmas cards I’ve made!! All I have left to say is…. (probably) never again.

Almost finished.

Christmas Card Orders!

I’m quite excited today because I brought in my Christmas pack of cards and showed a couple coworkers and both of them put in an order for one. So the christmas pack you see in the previous entry I will be selling for $20 per pack. That includes 12 cards and 12 matching envelopes. Now I just gotta start ordering more supplies as I traded my last pack of Very Vanilla 8 1/2″X 11″. I’ll keep anyone who actually reads this blog posted.

Simply Scrappin’ I Wish Kit Christmas Cards

So in between coordinating influenza, reno-ing the house, taking care of the dog, and making thank-you cards, I managed to find some time to make Christmas cards!

I was at my upline Carolyn’s open house and she had a set of cards from a friend that was made using a Simply Scrappin’ Kit. That got me thinking about Christmas cards using the Christmas themed
“I Wish” Simply Scrappin’ Kit. So I managed to make about 1 card every night for the last couple weeks. Now I know 1 card a night is nothing but man, trying to come up with how to put the cards together was painful. On Splitcoaststampers, there is a pdf file that shows how to make 60 cards out of one Simply Scrappin’ Kit so I cut up some paper as directed and as I started putting them together, I was disappointed. The 60 cards template was a bit boring and plain and it made sets of 4 cards of each design. I didn’t want to do that so I sat and fiddled every night and my goal was to make 12 different cards.

Goal finally accomplished as of about 10 minutes ago. I thought about doing these cards for a Christmas card workshop with the girls but it’d be pretty hectic to do 12 different cards in one afternoon. I’ll probably have to come up with something else for a workshop. In the meantime, enjoy the new Christmas layout and get started on those Christmas cards of your own!!

**UPDATE** November 23: So I just realized after doing a google search today that obviously I wasn’t the only one that came up with using the I Wish kit for christmas cards. And I’ve learned a valuable lesson. Most of the beautiful cards I saw using the kit actually used the kit way more than I did and that would’ve saved me loads of time. My cards only use a part of the kit and then a bunch of other stuff. Sigh. Lets hope I’m smarter next time.
